The memories for me are never ending, having spent the first ten summers of my life living in the
converted chicken coupe, across from my cousins. I have only fond memories of living in this idyllic
world. Just play everyday. The milk truck, the bread truck, the ice cream car, with the freezer in trunk,
lid removed. Walking to the kid’s dining room, for dinner, from the bungalow or eating in the
dinning room for Sunday lunch. How about fresh baked cookies and milk. Not only have I been
fortunate to stay in touch with my cousins but to physically be around the Brookside throug all it’s
transformations up until the time it closed and eventually sold. I’ve taken all my kid’s there,
Flat Rocks being a must see, but it is not the same, since my younger children never saw
The Brookside as an operating entity. Thanks for creating this website, it certainly makes me feel
warm and fuzzy inside. Looking at some the pictures of people who have passed away, including my mother and aunt.
I have such fond memories of visiting my Cousin Sadie and Nate and the Brookside hotel. It’s true I was very young but I vividly remember buying candy cigarettes in the candy shop, getting free cookies when my sister and I would scamper down to the kitchen and playing shuffle board on hot and sunny days.
